Brickwork Ratings (BWR) has downgraded the long-term rating/ reaffirmed the short-term rating and simultaneously withdrawn the Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers & Chemicals Ltd.'s (Or the company) bank loan ratings based on the request of the company for rating withdrawal, written confirmation from the company about non-utilization of the proposed facilities and No Objection Certificates from the lenders.
However, the ratings continue to be supported by the company’s established market position in the fertilizers and industrial chemicals sectors, its experienced management and long operational track record, consistent performance and a comfortable financial risk profile.
Hence, in accordance with extant regulatory guidelines and BWR's Rating Withdrawal Policy, the long-term rating is downgraded, the short-term rating is reaffirmed and is simultaneously withdrawn for Rs.2900.00 Crs. of bank loan facilities of Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers & Chemicals Ltd.

Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers & Chemicals Ltd (GNFC) was incorporated in 1976 by the Government of Gujarat (GoG) and Gujarat State Fertilizers and Chemicals Limited. The shareholding of the GoG was later transferred to Gujarat State Investments Limited (BWR AA/Stable vide rationale dated 15 Dec 2022), the investments arm of the GoG. GNFC is a manufacturer and trader of fertilizers and industrial chemicals, covering a wide range of products. Other than that, the company also offers various IT solutions and services. The company sells its fertilizers under the brand name 'Narmada' and has a presence in both nitrogenous (urea) and phosphatic fertilizers. The chemicals segment is the major revenue driver for GNFC contributing ~60-70% in FY22 and FY23. The company is a market leader for various chemicals including acetic acid, aniline and toluene di-isocyanate (TDI) as it is the sole manufacturer of acetic acid and TDI in the country.
On a standalone basis in FY23, the company's revenue and PAT were at Rs. 10227 Crs. and Rs. 1464 Crs., respectively. In Q1FY24 (unaudited - standalone), the company's revenue and PAT were at Rs. 1652 Crs. and Rs. 85 Crs., respectively.
